Dr. Abrams continued his work as a leader in the field through a keynote address before the American Academy of Ophthalmology, where he presented one of his latest new treatments for patients suffering from Dry Eye through procedures that treat the root cause of the issue. The Doctor’s presentation: Implementation in the practice and patient counseling: Tips for the LipiFlow Practice was structured to teach other practices how to use the new technology more efficiently and effectively to help patients.

“Dry Eye is now recognized for what it is, which is serious health issue that can often be debilitating for those suffering from the condition,” said Dr. Abrams. “With efforts like those at our Dry Eye Center, we’re now able to help patients in new ways that can remedy Dry Eye and vastly improve their quality of life and I was honored to share insights to help other surgeons better serve their patients.”

Dr. Abrams’ keynote detailed success factors including physician training for discussing and recommending the procedure, staff training and participation. In addition, his address covered workflow pathways to best articulate and manage the LipiFlow Dry Eye procedure’s benefits for those in need of the treatment.

“Practices offer treatment to patients are certain to hear similar heart warming success stories that we have from patients who can get back to doing the simple things in life that Dry Eye prevented before, from reading to getting outdoors in the sun with family and friends,” said Dr. Abrams. “Having both treated patients with Dry Eye, and having been successfully treated myself, I was grateful to have the opportunity to spread the word about this life changing treatment to the American Academy of Ophthalmology.”
